EDIT 2: the only real problem I’ve had with these thick stubby murder thumbs is finding a bowling ball that I can use. I have to go with the heavier ones as their thumb holes are usually larger. Of course throwing a 16lb ball is harder than a 12.
I have this type of thumb and nobody else in my family has it. I think it’s a fun feature to have because it’s different but not too noticeable. Genetics are weird!

It’s called brachydactyly type D and it’s a genetic condition about 3% of the population has!
Me and my mom have that too, it’s genetic caused by a rare version of the HOXD13 gene, which codes for a lot of growth formation.
According to wikipedia other names are potter’s thumb, royal thumb, and murderers thumb.
