TALON was one of the 10 partner teams at the beginning of VCT Pacific
TALON will not continue in VCT Pacific next year, sources tell Sheep Esports. After three seasons in the region’s top VALORANT league, the organization is withdrawing from the circuit due to financial issues.
TALON is the second partner team to leave the VCT scene after Movistar KOI, as Riot Games ended the partnership with the team. The slot left by TALON should be taken over by another team invited by Riot Games. Several organizations, including BOOM Esports, are currently in discussions to take over the spot.
A rushed end for the organization
This is a bombshell that occurred during this offseason in VCT Pacific. The Thai organization, one of the original ten Pacific partner teams, is now forced to depart the league due to financial instability. Despite moments of promise, TALON never fully established themselves in VCT.
The team never really had the opportunity to establish themselves in VCT despite some good results. They started in 2023 with an honorable run by reaching the quarterfinals of the LOCK//IN São Paulo but then collapsed during the season. In 2024, they still struggled to achieve good results until the Stage 2 where they finished in the top 4, which will be enough to allow them to access the Champions where they were, however, quite soundly beaten.
This year, the team achieved its best result in its regional league by finishing top 3 in Stage 2. However, the team failed to qualify for the Champions by losing on a reverse sweep against Rex Regum Qeon, marking the team’s last match in VCT.
BOOM Esports back?
Several organizations are currently vying for the vacant spot left by TALON. It is likely that a team will be invited to compete next year, as BOOM Esports was in the past when Bleed Esports departed. The Indonesian organization is also among those interested in reclaiming the spot. After losing in the final of the Ascension, BOOM could still make a return to VCT Pacific. It would also be possible that the organization that takes over the slot also takes over all of TALON’s players, who are now teamless after this decision.
