Reuters say there are no reports of casualties. The bridge was closed on Monday afternoon following reports of cracks appearing in nearby areas. It collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.

The little blue sign still standing cracked me up

  3. Markus_zockt より:

What happens in the first 2 seconds of the video? Why is there so much dust coming from the middle of the mountain?

  4. gcloud209 より:

Bridge didn’t collapse the mountain failed. Holy shit.

  5. prenderm より:

    The mountain was hungry

  6. PeckerSnout より:

    Charmadillo, indeed!

  7. omnipotentqueue より:

It looks like this was structurally unsound foundation- not the bridge per se. Still something they would have seen coming with proper surveying and geological research.

    Rico Rodriguez strikes again

  9. n2hang より:

The mountain gave way but that’s part of the bridge engineering… the construction was faulty as the geological survey should have revealed this weakness and the mountain been reinforced or the bridge not built there. Glad no one was hurt.

  10. I immediately checked to see if this was AI.

We’re going to have to get used to doing that for everything now I suppose.

  11. Ogankle より:

This surely had to have been caused by a rock slide of some sorts gone wrong is what my brain initially tells me

Some soils engineer lost their job today

  13. kon--- より:

    That blue sign though

  14. freeportme より:

It would be more interesting if we knew the cause.

    I only have one question.

    What is a Charmadillo?

  16. HiFiGuy197 より:

The landslide may have caused the bridge collapse, but did excavating for the road destabilize the slope?

  17. “Look at China: They can build a bridge in a week!”

My first thought is r/ThatLookedExpensive …

  19. Relaxmf2022 より:

Never ordering a bridge from TEMU every again.

  20. muftak3 より:

They didn’t have enough time to check mountain stability in the 4 days it took to build.

  21. Most things made in china can warranty for 30 days. Once it is past amazon free return period, all bets are off.

For the people who are attempting to determine cause by the video alone, here is a link to Reuters article

  23. Anyone know what the man says in the clip?

  24. TanToRiaL より:

They don’t make mountains like they use to hey?

  25. zeroibis より:

Glad to hear that everyone was safe.

This is why things like geological surveys and planning are important when you build things.

Mountain collapsed onto the bridge, the main bridge still standing.
