It is true that there is apparently no artificial raspberry flavor in it, but that’s only because they had to mix artificial flavors to approximate raspberry flavor. The intention was always to taste like raspberry, and the color was (as stated) to differentiate it from all the other red flavors.
A little over a decade ago when I worked in a vape shop, we had a guy come in asking for smurfberry. We hadn’t heard of that flavor yet, so we asked him what it was supposed to taste like. “I didn’t know, man, I guess like a Smurfberry,” and we were like, “Ok, yeah, well, smurfberries don’t exist so do you have any other examples?” He meant blue raspberry.
Flavor science is super interesting to me. The town I grew up in had a massive antique fair twice a year, like 20+ miles of antiquers setting up a huge bazaar, and every time I’d talk to this snow cone guy that was an absolute genius with combinations. After my original career path fell through I pivoted to food in part due to him and am still learning new stuff like this in the job
Always found it weird when I visited America that the flavouring is blue raspberry. In NZ we just have raspberry flavouring that’s red. Though we don’t have cherry flavoured things and way less watermelon though still some.
Red by default is raspberry, or if it’s ice cream/ milk is strawberry.
raspberries are the only fruit that i hate for some reason and i can very easily discern its presence. if some colored food had raspberries in it, i would notice its distinct flavor immediately.
I found a blue raspberry once in the forest and tried it. It tasted nothing like the candy flavor and gave me diarrhea/shed 10 pounds of fluids
In retrospect, it might have been a mushroom. Stay away from colored fungus. Actually don’t eat anything on the forest ground that the squirrels don’t touch

Nothing tastes like anything. Color determines flavor. Temperature determines color.
Thanks for the fruit punch recipe
I know someone with a severe raspberry allergy but is just fine wjth blue raspberry so I kinda figured there wasn’t any real raspberry in it

The blue coloring is probably used to make it blue raspberry.

Holy hell, the blue flavour actually has a source
Why isn’t confusion between cherry, strawberry, and watermelon flavours a concern?
Also because raspberry is a flavour already and is red or pink, they had to call the invented one something else.
Well hopefully you’ve existed this long knowing “Blue Razz” isn’t a fruit lol.
I’ve always liked just describing this flavor as ‘blue’.
Pretty sure the blue color came about because they banned the red coloring that used to be used
