It’s one of those things that shows how utterly hopeless it was for Japan to try and win against the United States. Japan was facing severe shortages across all industries, they had nowhere near enough fuel or food. The Americans were flying in 90 year old flags and they had a boat in the navy dedicated exclusively to ice cream production. Japan’s best hope had been to secure the fuel it needed from Allied colonial holdings and hope the European theater was too much of a distraction for anyone to come do anything about it. This was not the case
That’s nothing. When we kicked Tojo’s ass across the Pacific. Besieged and starved Japanese officers watched the US Navy parade around a battle ship that makes ice cream and nothing else. Doesn’t have guns. Doesn’t make ammo. Not a hospital ship. A freakin’ floating creamery.
