On a recent episode of the Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast, they were discussing the digital short “Threw it on the ground” which features you and Ryan Reynolds tasing Andy Samberg in the butthole over and over. Two questions:
1) They could not recall how they got you for that part. Do you remember how you got involved? Did you just get a call like “Hey want to tase Andy Samberg’s butthole over and over?
2) They commented on the utter delight on your face during the part where Andy Samberg is being tased in the butthole over and over. How fun was it to participate in a Lonely Island digital short? And how do you feel about the legacy of that body of work of the digital shorts by the Lonely Island?
Thanks for considering my questions. Also please put on a Matt Damon movie I like Matt Damon movies.
Absolutely LOVED Toxic Avenger, especially your truly demented appearance. It’s such a niche movie, how did it end up attracting a company like Legendary, and such an incredible cast?
Are you a Troma fan?
Hey Elijah
So excited for Toxic Avenger! What was it like diving into a villainous role?
Also what’s your favourite pizza topping? You seem a bbq kinda dude!
How was your time on Over the Garden Wall?
Thanks for lord of the rings dude, it’s gotten me through some sad times.
Hey Elijah! Seeing the movie tonight and I am PUMPED!
I saw yesterday that The Toxic Avenger is donating money to relieve $5M in medical debt, and for every $1M in box office it makes they are reliving another $1M. On top of this, why else should be see the film this weekend?
What’s your favorite video game and is there anything that you’ve been playing recently that you wanted to highlight?
Do you have some cool memories about your small role in Back to the future 2?
How was it working on Wilfred? Still one of my favourite series, loved you in it! Any chance of more of that, please?
Have a great day!
Toxic Avenger has some great moments of comedy throughout, my cinema was a real laugh out loud group – what was something in the film that really got you laughing when you saw it?
Can you please force someone to make more Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency? Pretty please?!? It’s soooooo good!
What drew you to Green Street Hooligans as a project?
Who is one filmmaker that you’ve always wanted to work with?
How did you find your character in this new film, or how was the makeup process? It seems like from the original look of the character, they did not veer too far from what it looked like in the film.
When will you wear wigs?
I’m really sorry for outing you at Comic Con in your Iron Man costume. I swear I didn’t know it was you until you talked about it on the Graham Norton show.
Add’l: For anyone wanting to know more about what happened. We were in line for something and Iron Man was behind me. I could see inside the suit through the eye hole, but I couldn’t make out the face. I think I looked a little too long because he asked me if I could see him in there. I think I said something like not really. I turn to my friend in front me and said I think someone famous in this suit; I had heard of celebrities doing that for anonymity. I turn around and Iron Man is quickly waking away. I didn’t think much about it until Elijah Wood is telling the story on TV and how after that he couldn’t go to Comic Con anymore. I ruined it for him and I’ve been feeling terrible about ever since.
Not a question, but I guess this is my chance to share: around 1998 I had to make a poster style book report for The Lord of the Rings. I cut up a few magazines, used a cigarette commercial for Gandalf, Southpark for the other three hobbits and you in the center of it all as Frodo. My friends even teased me that it was a stupid choice for the character. Imagine my delight a few years later. Thanks for that one.
Hey Elijah,
People often say that you and Daniel Radcliffe look alike (which I feel is only vaguely true). I am a big fan of both of your work.
What is the role that Daniel has played that you would love to play?
Optional bonus question is the reverse. What is a role that you’ve played that you think he’d do an excellent job at?
Thanks for your time, man. Have a good one!
I’d love a book recommendation and the hear anything you might have to say about Everything is Illuminated.
I’d also like you to know I signed an autograph as you in 2002. You had a very persistent and very drunk fan in Kilkenny Ireland who would not let you (me) leave the bar until you (i) admitted you were you(you) and gave her an autograph. I hope her memory of meeting you (me) is still a fond one for her.
In my over 12yrs on Reddit, I’ve not commented once. This is my time to shine.
Not really a question, moreso a comment and special request. My sister is a HUGE fan of yours, especially your Frodo adventures. She became a costume designer (and worked her way up the ranks in set production) because of your inspiration.
She briefly worked with you few years back and said you were legit one of the most kind genuine actors shes’s ever worked with. Her quote: “Never meet your heros” does NOT apply to Elijah Wood – he’s even better in person!
Today is her birthday, and she’s remains mega fan of yours.
If you see this and keen for a brief bday wish, her name is Chelsea Alice and she turns 32 today.
She’s living her best life in Newfoundland (Canada). Also… she’s the greatest.
Hey Elijah, how are you doing? I wanted to ask, how does it feel to act in a movie that is pretty heavy in CGI? I must assume you guys have some clues to follow so that you know where everything will be placed, but would love to know more! Thanks for making our childhood AND adulthood. 🙂
Hey man, big fan. With the wide diversity of fantastic projects, (Over the Garden Wall is a yearly watch) to things like Yellowjackets and LotR. What are your favorite kinds of projects to work on? What really draws you in and makes you feel engaged to do something? Thanks for doing the ama.
What’s up in your life that you just wanna share? Doesn’t have to be job related, just something you want to tell people about that you’ve done, or maybe a friend did.
I’ve always really enjoyed the film “The Good Son.”
Do you have any particular memories about your time working on that movie? Is it challenging to be the lead on a film like that (a horror/thriller) at such a young age?
Hey everyone! It’s been a long time since I’ve done an AMA and it’s always a lot of fun. Can’t wait to answer your questions! Let’s get it started!
We love you Elijah.
From Frodo to Wilfred to the Toxic Avenger.
But I want to ask about Wooden Wisdom.
Are you still DJing? and is there any chance of a small tour or a future show here and there (nyc please)?
Did it give you chills when Macaulay Culkin said, *”Hey, Mark. Don’t fuck with me,”* while you were sliding down the treehouse rope in *The Good Son?*
Did any props from LotR mysteriously disappear towards the end of filming?
edit: Alright then, keep your secrets.
No questions. Just mentioning that the Walter and Misty relationship is my favorite part of Yellowjackets. I would love to see another project with you and Christina Ricci. Two absolute icons.
Hey and thanks for the AMA!
What is your favourite food while on set and what is your comfort meal/food when not on set?
You’ve been taking much more interesting work since LoTR, to the point that if you’re in it, I’m interested. Is there an endgame for you in terms of a dream project or is this it at the moment?
How do you manage to stay grounded coming from a childhood acting background? I know it can be rough transitioning from young roles to older, so I’m curious as you’ve always seemed to hit the move with ease.
Do you find that your success from a young age particularly with the Lord of the rings franchise, has granted you the ability to take on more fun/interesting projects for you? As opposed to taking on more commercially safe or viable ones just for the money.
Are we getting a follow up to Over the Garden Wall soon!
Much love. Really appreciate everything you do for horror
Hello Elijah!
How is it having a danish wife, without revealing too much do you live in the US or are you sometimes in Denmark as well? Also what’s the biggest difference between the two countries and maybe things they can learn from each other?
Wish you the best, a huge fan
Frank
Y’all, thank you SO much for all of these questions. I had a blast and hope we can do this again soon!
Hey Elijah!
Thanks for being an important part of my childhood with LOTR but as much as I love those I was hoping to hear something about new about your time working on either Everything is Illuminated or Over the Garden Wall.
Sammy Davis Jr Jr is forever in my lexicon and Garden wall is an annual watch for me, it’s one of my favorite pieces of media!
Are you aware of the virality of your Rise of Skywalker tweet? Do you have any further thoughts on it? Inb4 “no. how could I have known?”
You have the Paul Rudd ability of not aging. What’s your secret?
What’s a film you’ve done that you wish people talked about more?
Do you have any fond memories of “Flipper” and working with Paul Hogan?
What’s your process for deciding whether or not to accept a role?
How is your relationship with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, are you still talking with them?
If you could put any book to film, what book would it be?
No question just an observation!
I think your portrayal of Kevin in Sin City was my favourite. I think the silence of the character and how Kevin appears super human was terrifying and a fantastic performance.
Unironically, how often have you worn wigs? And how do feel about wearing them? At this point I’m genuinely curious.
