    Still a great movie!!

    Let’s play ball!

*sinnerman where you going to run to?!*

I thought it was because the character is so rich he doesn’t give a shit and wears whatever he feels like.

  3. I believe Pierce in his prime looked amazing in anything he wore.

To this day, I still think he’s the most “James Bond”-looking actor to ever play Bond. I don’t even know how he’s described in the books, but if it’s not like Brosnan, it, too, is wrong.

The intellectual property is owned by the Broccoli family (who claim to be inventors of the vegetable), and “becoming” James Bond is apparently quite the journey.

They look for lesser known actors.  Bond is how one should *become* an A-lister.  You’ll meet with the family, long sessions in hotels, spending the weekend at a Chateau, until they “feel” the Bond vibe.  Barbara will ultimately make the call.

Now that you are playing Bond, you must stay with the lines.  No sendups of the character, no overtly “bad” characters, or you may not be called for the next film.   At some point, Bond retires and they look for a new one.

So why don’t we have a new Bond 4 years after the last one?

    …and why isn’t there a movie in pre-production?

There has been an epic battle recently between the family (who control the IP) and Amazon (who control the distribution).  To the Broccolis Bond is a family member, and they were initially worried about Amazon treating him like a cash machine.  Then, in the first meeting with Amazon the SVP in charge talked about “expanding the property”.  Reinforcing their fear and starting a toxic relationship.

Its been a spicy time for James.

They also cut his suit jackets differently in TCA to further differentiate the two.

They put the creative writing staff on the contract writing team.

It’s odd that he was able to play another MI6 agent in The Taylor of Panama.

But I guess since that tailor didn’t make him a tux…

This makes sense. My pastor does not allow us to dress up like pastors when we attend other churches either

I also never knew he was Irish until I watched The Foreigner. He was also my favourite Bond.

I think that’s the case with all Bond actors. Something about the contract makes it so they aren’t allowed to wear tuxes in other films. Not sure the reasoning behind it, but probably due to the character’s mysticism.
