Developer: Works as designed. If you want to wake up at 6 am, just set the time forward 2 hours. Stupid enduser

Had to get up at 4 am to go to work… making more 4 am alarm clocks.

Bro really said ‘if I’m suffering, everyone’s suffering.’

Eh, alarm ‘clocks’ had been around for ages before this was invented. Most standard way was to use a [Candle Clock](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candle_clock) that was marked for each hour. You’d just press a nail or other metallic object into the hour you wanted to wake and then it would drop into a metal plate and wake you.

So it isn’t like everyone suddenly had no choice but to wake at 4am.

The source says “first **American** alarm clock”.

Just set the time incorrectly and you can wake at whatever time you want.

The guy who suggested to make it adjustable was thrown out a window.

I don’t even go to bed at 4 am and he’s already awake.

[A clock made by Levi Hutchins (although probably not the alarm clock)](https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/733795)

  13. Alarming incompetence.

Get up at 4am sounds terrible.

    Stupid Bot.

    From the link:

    > The first **American** alarm clock was created in 1787 by Levi Hutchins in Concord, New Hampshire. This device he made only for himself, however, and it only rang at 4 am, in order to wake him for his job.

Tons of other timekeepers that existed long before Hutchins’ version had alarm features that were customizable.

Now 4am is when we read Reddit, because the obnoxious people are out cold on sleeping pills.
