“Amou Haji was celibate, ate carrion meat (already deceased animals) that he found (especially rotting porcupines), drank water from puddles and rusty oil cans, smoked animal dung using an old pipe, donned a war helmet to fend off the cold, and lived in a hole that he had dug himself”
The germs on him were having a prolonged civil war, washing favored 1 side massively over the others and completely eliminating all competition who couldn’t withstand water and soap and thus they get to finally feast freely on their host.
> Years of not bathing had left him with skin covered in “soot and pus”, IRNA said, while his diet had consisted of rotten meat and unsanitary water drunk from an old oil can.
My grandmother used to tell me story from the early 20th centrury that was exactly the same. There was a hermit in the woods of Sweden that never bathed and when the village decided to convince him to take a bath and be a part of society he died right after.
Another explanation rather than the bathing could be that those guys don’t get close to anybody for years and when they do they get exposed to a lot of germs that they have no immunity to.
Simpsons S11 E12: “A doctor tells [Mr. Burns] he has every disease known to man, as well as new ones found inside him. However, they all get in each others’ way, thereby preventing Burns from actually dying of anything” – TV Tropes
I’ve heard stories of people not showering for years, then someone showering them, later dying. I’ve also heard that it is not advised to shower those cases.
Few people can say they are the best at what they do. He’s up there with the best of them. He’s the Michael Jordan of filth, the Mohammed Ali of grime, the Wayne Gretzky of stank. He’s the greatest of all time.

Dude lived a life
My bet is it was connected in that they could see he was declining and hoped it would help.
All that grime was holding him together. He washed it off, and fell apart

He also smoked a pipe, more precisely a chiloom, filled with dried cow dung.
Study that man’s immune system and microbiome damn.

Should I start doing this and report back?

The jock itch would have been out of control
All the germs killed him after the wash
They did him clean
They ruined the patina
I can already see the dumb people looking at this and going “yes I can do this because he did it”
I bet his last words where something like “I fucking told you so”
Geez. I skip one shower and start questioning my life choices.
It’s like rain on your wedding day

That is not a real name. Amo Haji. Means something like “old Uncle.” in Arabic, or precisely someone who did the Hajj pilgrimage

He smoked dung pipes. Very fascinating man.
He developed an exo-immune system.
Surely you accidentally got a bit washed by rain or pouring water…?

He was 94 years old. There was a high chance he would have died in any case, whether he was washed or not.
Like a nice cast iron pan

He also smoked animal dung out of a pipe. Wild guy.
He betrayed the filth and it killed him for it!!
